Let's have a vote

What film do you think has the most memorable quotes? For me, it's Annie Hall. And the runner up is The Godfather. Thoughts? Here is a great quote from Annie Hall:

"There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life - full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly."

I was reminded of this fantastic quote because Woody Allen was recently interviewed by Terry Gross on Fresh Air. What do you think? Do you agree with misanthropic Allen?

  1. One of my favorite quotes is from The Untouchables when Jim Malone (Sean Connery) says about getting Capone:

They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That's* the *Chicago* way!

I love the cadence of the whole scene, but that quote is great cause it can work with anything! Deal with the mob, family, work, sports, whatever. And you it doesn't have to be site specific you don't want it.

I like your quote and will try to think of others!

  2. ha ha. i love that quote, bucky. can you believe it, but i've never seen that film. i will now have to rent it. i'm sure noah will LOVE it (and i'm sure noah has seen it). don't you agree that the Godfather has a million great/always relevant quotes as well. When my mom was here visiting we had a cannoli craving and of course i had to say, "Leave the gun, take the cannoli."
